The journey

The Indian Himalaya's eastern corner pairs colonial-era Darjeeling — tea estates, the UNESCO toy train, sunrise at Tiger Hill — with the Singalila ridge walk to Sandakphu, the finest close-range viewpoint of Kanchenjunga anywhere. From the ridge on a clear dawn you see four of the five highest mountains on earth: Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse and Makalu in one sweep.

Arrive Bagdogra – Gangtok (1650 m)
