The journey

Bhutan measures its success in happiness, caps its visitor numbers, and keeps its valleys much as they have always been. This six-day journey covers the kingdom's heartland: Thimphu's giant Buddha and weekend market, the fortress-monastery of Punakha at the meeting of two rivers, and the hike every traveller dreams of — up to Taktsang, the Tiger's Nest, pinned to its cliff 900 m above the Paro valley.

The mandatory Sustainable Development Fee is included in our pricing.

Traveller reviews

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Masterpiece Himalayan Journey with Everest Tour Nepal Treks! Our Bhutan Cultural Kingdom Tour was a life-changing experience, flawless from start to finish thanks to the incredible team at Everest Tour Nepal Treks. If you want to experience the true spiritual essence of the Land of the Thunder Dragon, this is the company to book with. From the moment we arrived, we were surrounded by the sights and sounds of ancient traditions. The majestic Dzongs—particularly Punakha Dzong and Tashichho Dzong—were architectural marvels that felt like stepping back in time. Walking through these grand fortress-monasteries, our guide brought centuries of history and Buddhist philosophy to life with deep knowledge and genuine passion. Every mountain pass, bridge, and hillside we encountered was beautifully adorned with thousands of vibrant prayer flags fluttering in the wind. Watching them dance against the backdrop of the snow-capped Himalayas added an incredibly serene, deeply spiritual atmosphere to the entire road trip. The absolute crown jewel of the itinerary was the iconic hike to Taktsang Monastery, the legendary Tiger's Nest. Perched precariously on a cliffside 900 meters above the valley floor, it is a sight that photos simply cannot do justice. Everest Tour Nepal Treks paced the hike perfectly, ensuring we could take our time, absorb the stunning vistas, and comfortably reach the summit. Standing inside the ancient, mist-shrouded monastery with the sound of monks chanting is a memory we will treasure forever. Logistics, private transportation, and accommodations were top-tier throughout the journey. Everest Tour Nepal Treks took care of every single detail—including the complex visa permits and sustainable development fees—allowing us to simply immerse ourselves in the country's Gross National Happiness. Thank you for an unforgettable adventure into the last Shangri-La!”
