Trip overview

The journey

Island Peak (Imja Tse, 6,189 m) is the classic first Himalayan summit: a full Everest Base Camp acclimatisation trek followed by a glacier climb with fixed ropes to an airy summit ridge between Lhotse and Ama Dablam. You use crampons, harness and jumar — our climbing Sherpas run a pre-climb skills session at base camp, and guide at a 1:2 ratio on summit day.

Previous trekking experience at altitude is required; previous climbing experience is not.

Ama Dablam Base Camp Trek with Heli Return

This is a scenic and relatively short trek in the Everest (Khumbu) region that takes you to the base of one of the most beautiful mountains in the world — Ama Dablam (6,812 m). Adding a helicopter return eliminates the long walk back, saves time and energy, and offers spectacular aerial views of the Himalayas.
